Der Südtiroler Giorgio (Hansjörg) Moroder gehört zu den einflussreichsten Produzenten im Bereich der Disco-, Tanz- und Technomusik. Der 1940 geborene Musiker war ab den späten Sechzigern zunächst im Pop- und Schlagerbereich unterwegs, experimentierte aber ab 1970 schon mit Synthesizern. Ab 1973 begann er, zusammen mit Musikern wie Harold Faltermeyer, Keith Forsey und Pete Bellotte in seinem Münchner Studio Musicland einen ganz eigenen Disco-Sound zu kreieren. Vor allem mit den Donna-Summer-Singles "Love to Love You" und "I Feel You" konnte sich Moroder als Top-Produzent etablieren und arbeitete fortan mit Musikern wie Blondie, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Cher und Chaka Khan. Auch als Filmkomponist konnte er zahlreiche Erfolge verbuchen, unter anderem mit den Oscar-prämierten Soundtracks zu Midnight Express (1978) und Flashdance (1983). In den Neunzigern wurde es ruhiger um Moroder, aber nachdem eine ganze junge Generation von EDM-Musikern ihn als Einfluss nannte, meldete er sich 2015 mit dem Album Déjà Vu zurück.
