Pianist Leif Ove Andsnes wurde 1970 im norwegischen Karmøy geboren und ist für Hunderte hochgelobter Aufnahmen und Konzerte bekannt. Einer seiner herausragendsten Momente war aber vermutlich ein Tag im Jahr 2007, an dem er ein Klavier per Hubschrauber auf einen norwegischen Berggipfel transportieren ließ und dort Edvard Griegs „Ballade g-Moll“ spielte. Die Aufnahme der „Lyrischen Stücke“ auf Griegs eigenem Klavier in dessen Villa in Troldhaugen (2002) war ein weiteres Vorzeigeprojekt, mit dem er neue musikalische Blickwinkel als einer der größten Komponisten seines Heimatlandes eröffnete. Andsnes’ Repertoire ist dabei alles andere als engstirnig und erstreckt sich über das gesamte klassische Spektrum. So wirft sein wunderbar präzises Klavierspiel auf zwei Doppelalben (2021-2022) ein neues Licht auf die Werke Wolfgang Amadeus Mozarts, während „The Beethoven Journey“ (2012-2014) einen vergleichbar authentischen Zugang zu den fünf Klavierkonzerten des Komponisten bietet. Egal, was Andsnes gerade spielt: Seine warme, leuchtende Klangpalette zieht das Publikum in ihren Bann und macht ihn zu einem der zugänglichsten Pianist:innen der Gegenwart.
